Stars of Tomorrow
One of the highlights of the summer season is the annual "Stars of Tomorrow" concert which takes place at the Sheslow Auditorium on the campus of Drake University. The concert features the members of the James E. Collier Apprentice Artist Program, accompanied by the Des Moines Metro Opera Orchestra. Overtures, scenes and excerpts from the operatic repertory make up the program, which also features Dr. Robert Larsen, Founder and Director Emeritus of the Des Moines Metro Opera as host. Dr. Larsen is seen in the photo above conducting the orchestra and apprentice artists in a scene from Puccini's "La Rondine". This year's concert will be presented on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 7:00 pm.
